First thing: the context. Spain has no blood in its veins. It has wine. A great variety of wine, and lots of it. The country has almost 3 million acres of vineyards, more than 400 varieties of grapes, and is the third largest producer of wine in the world. The most prized designations of origin are those of our neighbors La Rioja and the Catalan Priorat, closely followed by regions such as Ribera del Duero, Ribeira Sacra or Montsant. Beyond these territorial divisions, Spain has hundreds of wineries with excellent production, with numerous wines that have scored in excess of 90 Parker Points. Did you know that the famous critic included a white wine from Valdeorras (Galicia) on his list of the best wines in the world that, in Spain, was mainly used for cooking? That’s the level of Spanish wines. ;-)
Winemaster
We propose a tasting with an expert who, in an entertaining and educational way, will explain everything about the wines of the land, the native varieties, the influence of the climate, the production methods and the particularities of the wines of southern Europe. Who introduced wine to Spain? Why is wine so important in Spanish culture?
Cheese & Chocolate
And the food? Ok, everything’s under control. You can pair the tasting with cheese or chocolate, whichever you prefer. Our expert will also advise you on how to combine the wine to get the most out of not only the wine itself, but also the food. What is the ideal wine for game meat? And for white fish? And for a sweet dessert? And for a complete meal? All our tasting is enlivened with visual aids such as maps and geographical descriptions of the areas so that, apart from drinking it, you understand the complexities of wine, have fun and can make the most of a beverage with more than three thousand years of history.
